화려한 수상 경력을 자랑하는 문명 시리즈 개발사가 인류 최후의 저항을 주제로 한 액션 전략 게임을 선보인다. 외계인들이 지구를 침략하고 정체를 알 수 없는 이 적들의 위협에 맞서 세계 각국 정부가 연합하여 엑스컴이라는 엘리트 비밀 군사 조직을 만든다. 플레이어는 엑스컴의 사령관이 되어 외계인의 침략에 맞서 사투를 벌이는 지구방위팀을 지휘한다. 사령관은 작전 기지를 구축하고, 외계인의 기술을 연구하고, 전투 임무를 계획하고, 전투 중 병력 이동을 제어해야 한다.
게임특징
■ 전세계적 위협
전투는 전세계에서 펼쳐진다. 엑스컴 팀은 전세계 정부들과 긴밀히 교류하고 협상하면서 70개가 넘는 미션에 참여한다.
■ 작전 본부
병력을 모집하고 커스터마이징을 통해 특화된 병사를 키워 전투에 참가시킨다. 외계인의 기술을 훔쳐 연구해서 지구인의 무기와 능력을 확장한다.
■ 전략적 전투
전투 임무를 계획하고, 텐베이스 지상전에서 병력을 지휘하고, 인터셉터(Interceptor)와 스카이레인저(Skyranger) 같은 공중 유닛을 배치하여 외계인의 공격을 저지한다.
